Frequently Asked Questions

What is telehealth?

Telehealth simply means that your appointment with our provider will take place using secure video chat or by telephone if you prefer. Using a computer, tablet or cell phone, you will be able to see, hear and speak with your clinician, and discuss your care plan, without ever having to leave your home. Our digital platform is fully compliant with HIPAA regulations, ensuring that your personal and medical data is secure and confidential.

What is a Health Consultation?

A Health Consultation is a comprehensive evaluation of your medical history, lifestyle, past labs, as well as your current symptoms that are used to determine the root cause of your symptoms. Most people feel tired and are told, “your labs are normal Replace with the following: Be Well Medical takes the time to understand why you feel the way you do, identifying the root cause before creating a personalized health plan that considers the full range of physical, emotional, mental, social, and environmental factors influencing your well-being.

Are in-person visits offered?

Be Well Medical does offer Concierge Home Visits ONLY in the Tri-Cities area of Tennessee. All other appointments are available virtually or by phone, letting you access expert care from the comfort of your home anywhere in Tennessee.

Do I need to download anything to be seen at Be Well Medical?

No downloads are necessary for televisits! Simply register here or call our number, and when it’s time for your visit we’ll send you a link to follow the virtual visit or give you a call if you’d prefer.

What do I do if I need bloodwork or labs checked?

We have agreements with labs across Tennessee. So, if bloodwork or labs are necessary, you may have these collected at a convenient location near you. If any tests are needed, we will be sure to give you instructions on how to obtain these well in advance.

Do you accept insurance?

We do not accept insurance currently, but we do offer affordable self-pay pricing plans. Our services normally qualify for HSA reimbursement, can be paid with an HSA debit card and are also often reimbursable by many health share plans.

Why don't you accept insurance?

Unfortunately, when a Medical Provider contracts with insurance companies, they dictate what is deemed appropriate and necessary, which may not necessarily be in the best interest of the patient to heal. An insurance-based model does not allow a Provider to spend the time necessary with a patient to develop a personalized care plan, nor to allow the time to provide the patient adequate education, support and guidance which yields improved patient outcomes.

What types of payment do we accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover Card). You may also use a HSA or FSA card for payment. Personal checks are not accepted. We ask that you keep an active credit card on file at our office as part of your registration with Be Well Medical.

Do insurance companies pay for specialty labs?

Specialty tests are generally not covered by insurance. This will vary by your insurance provider, your plan, and the testing ordered. We have negotiated self-pay discounts with our lab testing vendors for those with high-deductible plans, health shares or those without insurance.

Do insurance companies pay for blood labs?

Yes, your labs may be covered by insurance, depending on your health insurance plan. Please check coverage with your insurance company on which lab company they prefer that you use.

Is there anything I need to do before my visit?

Before your visit we’ll send you some typical doctor’s office forms including health history, consent to treat, payment information, and any applicable screening forms. Please fill these out before your appointment time to avoid any delays in your care.

Why does the paperwork for the Health Consultations need to be submitted 24 hours prior to my intake?

Extensive review of your medical history, lifestyle, past lab testing and current symptoms is an important component the practitioner evaluates to uncover patterns that standard visits often miss. The questionnaires requested also provide essential information that is used to formulate your personalized care plan.

Can Be Well Medical be my Primary Care Provider?

No. However, Be Well Medical can provide primary care services including treating various non-emergency health issues, ordering mammograms, ultrasound, or X-rays that other primary care practices do; however, Be Well Medical does not function as true Primary Care Providers. We recommend that all patients have a designated PCP for routine and urgent medical care needs.
